Husband and wife found guilty of planning terrorist attack

A husband and wife have been found guilty of planning an ISIS-inspired terror attack on London to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 7/7 bombings.

Mohammed Rehman, 25 and his wife Sana Ahmed Khan, 24, planned to blow up either Westfield shopping centre or the London Underground during the attack.

Their plot was foiled when Rehman - who called himself the 'silent bomber' - sent a tweet asking for advice on which was the best target.

Sana Khan, 24, has been found guilty of preparing acts for terror after abandoning her plans of becoming a teacher to join her secret husband in jihad

Using a picture of Jihadi John, Rehman asked his followers: 'Westfield shopping centre or London underground? Any advice would be appreciated greatly.'

Officers then raided his home in Reading, Berkshire, where they found 10kg of nitrate explosives.

It was double the amount of powder used in the failed 21/7 London bombings, and only needed a large detonator to complete the bomb making process.

They were found guilty of preparing terrorist acts following a trial at the Old Bailey, which saw the couple turn on one another.

During the trial, the jury was told how Rehman referred to Shehzad Tanweer, one of the 7/7 bombers, as his 'beloved predecessor', and also liked the actions of Jihadi John, also known as Mohammed Emwazi.
