Pope Francis Falls Over in Front of a TV Audience of Millions During Poland Visit

Pope Francis took a tumble during Mass in front of an audience of millions.

The Pontiff had a little fall while visiting Poland’s holiest site at the Jasna Gora Monastery, in Czestochowa, southern Poland.


He lost his footing while approaching the altar, but thankfully he was quickly helped to his feet.

Video shows the Pope falling before Vatican Master of Ceremonies, Guido Marini, comes to his rescue.

He was uninjured in the fall, though he is known to have sciatica, a painful condition which can affect the legs and lower back.

After a rapid recovery, the Pope completed the event.

The Jasna Gora Monastery is known for being the home of an ancient Catholic icon, famed for performing ‘miracles’.

Francis lavished praise on a legacy of steadfast Polish Catholic faith as he urged Poles to hold fast to their faith.

During the service, Pope Francis urged Poles to stay united, as their nation is divided over such issues as how to view refugees and migrants, especially those who are not Christians.

He also said he prayed that Poles would have ‘the desire to leave behind all past wrongs and wounds, and to build fellowship for all, without ever yielding to the temptation to withdraw or to domineer.’
