Barcelona say Lionel Messi to have tests after recurrence of kidney problems

Barcelona have saidLionel Messi is to undergo medical tests to assess a recurrence of kidney problems.
The Argentinian forward missed the Club World Cup semi-final in December due to a renal colic, an abdominal ailment often related to the presence of kidney stones within renal ducts.

In a statement on Monday the club said that the tests, to be conducted by Tuesday at the latest, are “to assess the evolution of the kidney problem he suffered last December.”

The statement added that Messi would resume training on Wednesday, whenBarcelona travel to Valencia for the return leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, a formality after their 7-0 win in the first game.
