Omeri calls for creation of employment commission

The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, has called for the creation of an Employment Commission to create avenues for conversation and harmonious procedures for providers of vocational skills.

This, he said would generate employment without the interference of godfatherism.

Omeri made the call when the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) management team paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

He said NOA and NDE are strategizing to enlighten Nigerians on job opportunity creation policies of the government.

He however called for government agencies that provide vocational skills and services to be brought together under an Employment Commission for efficiency in job creation.

The DG also called for local crafts to be preserved so as to earn incomes out of the proceeds which can be used to meet the needs of the community.

Omeri stated that in line of the Agency’s mandate to ensure that government policies and programmes are adequately communicated to the citizens, NOA has positioned itself with offices in the 774 Local Government Areas of the federation and directorates in the 36 States and the FCT.

He added that the Agency will use its staff strength of 5,000 people that speaks all the languages and dialects of our country to effectively mobilize unemployed Nigerians to enlist for participation in the job creation opportunities provided by government.
