The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, has being summoned to appear before the Senate and explain the incessant increase of tuition fee by the School.
The resolution was upon a motion by Senator Shehu Sani that the Law School was established to cure the deficiency in the raining of Nigerians; however he expressed worries that the institution continuously charges outrageous tuition fee annually.
He told his colleagues that the cumulative fees of the institution have risen to Three Hundred and Fifteen Thousands, describing it as excessively high.
According to him, “if this astronomical increase is the tuition fee of the Nigerian Law School is left unabated, the Nigerian child, in the future, cannot afford legal education in Nigeria”.
Similarly, the upper legislative Chamber has called on the Federal Government to check the increasing and geo-metric increase in the country’s population and take deliberate steps to reverse the trend.
Senator Isa Hamman , representing Bauchi Central argued that the United Nation’s Population Fund, UNPF report that the world’s population has hit the seven billion mark with a projected increase of about 2to 3 billion in the next 50 years to be driven by growth in mainly developing countries was worrisome.
