Jerry Ogbonna 61 year old ex-service man denies stealing N45m

Do you guys remember the man jerry Ogbonna that was accused of withdrawing N45m that was mistakenly paid into his account, well here is his own part of the story!!

Jerry Ogbonna, a 61 year old ex service man has denied the allegation, he said the money was not mistakenly paid into his account, adding that it was paid into his account by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for the lease of three helicopters from Tunisia.

He said the N45m was part payment for the mobilisation of the contract, that cost N110m.

Ogbonna also alleged that he is being accused falsely, because he refused to give in to requests by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to share the money and abandon the contract.

According to a statement obtained from his social media page, he said "The money was used to take the officers of the DPR and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on an inspection visit to Tunisia. Officials of the Civil Aviation authorities also travelled for the inspection of the helicopters with officers of Aero Contractors who were to operate the helicopters.

"Also, officials and crew of the Tunisian company, Tunisiavia, visited Nigeria to inspect the facilities here in Nigeria where the helicopters will operate."

Ogbonna also said he reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), who did nothing about it.

He threw an open challenge to the EFCC to come and arrest him, stating that the anti-graft agency knows his residential address and his place of work.

The case is currently in court, I will keep you posted as it unfolds.
