Asaba Movies Vs Cinema Movies......

Cinema movies huh? Some days back I was so bored so I decided to watch a Nigerian movie popularly called nollywood movie I searched everywhere couldn't find any at home so I decided to buy one just across the street, went out saw a guy selling told him I wanted a Nigerian movie the next thing I heard got me so surprised. The seller said asaba movie or cinema movie..... I was like what??  Which one be cinema which one be asaba, he said aunty you no know ah 'cinema movie na those ones wey dem dey speak big big English dey try form like americana' he was about explaining asaba movie to me I told him it's okay abeg just give me any nice nollywood movie.

While watching my movie I couldn't help but notice the funny accent the guy talked about and I said this must be the 'cinema movie' I decided to snoop around as usual.

Asaba happens to be the capital of the State with the big heart (delta state) and it's definitely living by its name because of recent times most producers and directors have some what relocated to shooting their movies in asaba, some say it's because of the lovely hotels and environment, others say because of the market and the friendly people.

Cinema movies(the name still makes me laugh) are the new movies shown in the cinema and it's because the movie has high quality with 'top notch producers, directors and a list actors'. It is the movie that is more Hollywood than nollywood.

Now, the big question why the segregation between these two movies?

The Nigerian movie before it was changed to Hollywood started with the 'asaba kind of movie' where they shoot most of the movies in the south east displaying our culture and heritage, that is to say most of all the a list actors started with asaba movies. Yvonne Jegede took to her instagram page to publicize her support for asaba movies when she couldn't take it anymore she said 'this is where we started so we say no to discrimination.... What you term ASABA MOVIES is nollywood..... Our cinematography is very good, our actors are the best, our directors are very good..... Our scripts are better'.
I asked around, some people prefer asaba movies some say it's funny and the actors don't try to be who they are not(the forming accent part lol), while others prefer the cinema movies because it's modern.
Basically I think they should come together and form a stronger bond for the growth of nollywood and our a list actors shouldn't turn roles from the asaba movies because they started from there.
Henceforth all segregation should be stopped.
